Dominique,Thierry and the family are parents in their sixties with three children (Olivier, Nathalie and Véronique). We have been living in the village of Ucimont in the commune of Bouillon since 1984. At the time, Dominique, Thierry de Lannois and the family didn’t think that 35 years later, would generate a family business managing 2 rural gîtes.
Each one of us has its own speciality. Dominique has a green thumb and takes care of the vegetable garden as well as the ornamental garden. She also has an artistic fibre which she develops in watercolour and in the decoration of the gîtes. Thierry has acquired knowledge in the field of nature. He has become an experienced passer-by in the discovery of the natural world. Don’t hesitate to consult him to know more about the walks to do in the region.
We fell in love with the Southern Ardennes even longer ago. This is where we met! When we had the opportunity to buy our house and then the one that would become the two gîtes, ten years later, we didn’t hesitate a second!
The village of Ucimont seemed welcoming from the outset. We feel at ease there. The inhabitants are accustomed to being around tourists. Even if it is necessary to move around to do the shopping, the isolation of the urban turbulences largely compensates for these few inconveniences. Most shops are less than 15 minutes away by car.
It’s the perfect place to recharge your batteries, forget your worries and fill up with positive energy. In the village, there is still a bell tower that gives rhythm to the day, roosters crowing, cattle and farmers working. In short, it’s the Countryside!
From the gîte, you can go for a walk or a mountain bike ride without taking your car. Less than a kilometre away on foot, you can admire the view from the “Tombeau du Géant” in Botassart: an impressive and wild view over a meander of the Semois. This place is classified as a major heritage site of landscape interest in Wallonia. Within a radius of 25 kilometres, about thirty marked walks are available to you.
Dominique,Thierry de Lannois and the family, which has now grown up, will do their utmost to make your stay enjoyable.
